We Aren’t the Problem, Are We?

For a long time I thought I was the problem as to why I wasn’t successful in the business world. There were a lot of things that I thought were wrong with me. I finally spoke with rusty solomon about what the problem could be as far as my advancing to the next level and he told me that it wasn’t me. He told me that while I was doing everything I could to advance my career, I was working in a business and company that did not think too highly of women. He made me realize that I could reach my full potential in another company where I would be honored and my work would be much more appreciated then where I was working at the time I spoke to him. There was nothing that was going to hold me back from reaching my full potential. As soon as our meeting was over, I got the confidence that I needed in order to leave the company that I had called home for years.

I found another company that was smaller and owned by a woman and I was blown away by the way the owner and the managers were treating me. To go to work every day was a pleasure and I could not believe that I was getting paid by these wonderful people, more than what I was making at my last position. It’s hard to believe that by speaking with one person your total outlook on your life can change. It took a lot for me to be able to get out of the comfortable position I was in while I was leaving my job. Not knowing where I was going to end up was even more stressful but I am so glad that I made the changes I did.
